hi, I have a question, I made a model with high resolution and paint with color, it has 8822112 polys, then I used dynamesh to reduce poly and use zplugin->3d print exporter to export my model into obj files. because I want to print out my model in color 3d printer. My problem is, when I check my model with meshlab software, I can only see my model, but no color with it. I don’t know what did i do wrong, and hope someone can help me. thanks
dynamesh removes polypaint information. You can try to project your new decimated mesh onto your old mesh to bring back the color information, but without the same level of verts your texture is going to become blurry/distorted. I believe mesh lab models support textures, so you’ll want to unwrap your mesh, generate a texture, and keep your UVs during your decimation.
hi, thank you for help, I am new user for zb, and i was wondering if you can show me how to project my decimate model, thanks again.
You have diferent options:
If really want to export as OBJ and decimated keeping your polypaint you just have to go to Preferences->Decimation Master-> Enable Use and Keep Polypaint and play with the Polypaint weight slider.
But usually color 3D printers (ZCorp) needs a texture along with the WRL object. That is done by creating UV´s in your object and then you can decimate while keeping UV´s. So you will have a decimated version of your textured model ready to export using 3D print Exporter plugin in VMRL (expors a .WRL extension file).
Hope this helps
