Problem with CreateDiff Mesh in 4R4 [Answered]

Hi,

I’m having an issue with the CreateDiff Mesh function in 4R4. Following these steps:
1)Store MT
2)Offset(/inflate etc.) the mesh
3)Click CreateDiff Mesh

I get broken geometry on the newly generated parts of the mesh (the original plane’s geo is intact):

(*this is the same subtool with a snapshot on the canvas so you can see front and back)

This happens coming from a default Plane3D converted to a polymesh (as in this case), as well as from a default Cylinder3D converted to a polymesh with the end caps deleted. The severity of the problem seems to vary (sometimes I get no geo at all; everything looks right, but there’s no polyframe for the new parts except the outline).
If, however, I subdivide the mesh to level 3+ before going through the CreateDiff procedure, the problem seems to disappear and everything is normal.

I don’t think this happened before 4R4; never had any problems before. I wonder if something has changed that I don’t know about, or if this is a real problem? Can anyone reproduce it?

(*Note, I realise there are other ways of adding thickness to a mesh; CreateDiff is my preferred method, but I know I can work around it if necessary.)

My specs are:
Intel Core i7 @ 1.73GHz, with 8GB RAM, running Windows 7 x64

And plz find the requisite “just before” screenshot attached:

the problem could be related to primitives…if you use the default cube from the lightbox work fine take a look in the two recorded session, in one of the (the DC zscript)before running select the default cube .zpr

I confirm I can reproduce this. I’ll pass on the information to the development team.

Thanks,

Thank you
