Problem with Adaptive Skin

I am using ZBrush 4R7 on Mac.

I am new to ZBrush. I am using some basic functionality for Adaptive Skin and don’t seem to understand why it is behaving in unpredictable ways.

Attached Are the Screenshots with Problems.
Image 1 & 2: A simple zsphere and its adaptive skin. Note that only half the sphere got the skin.
Image 3 & 4: An additional sphere added to it and its adaptive skin. Note the half of main sphere is still without skin.
Image 4 & 5: A sphere is added to both hemispheres of the main sphere. Note how the skin in now 2 infinite tubes that are not being capped.

Is this normal behavior, or am I missing something ?

Other details:
I am using Mid 2009 Mac Book Pro. However, the problem is not specific to this machine, and I can see it as well on my Macbook Air.

The first zsphere you draw is the ‘root zsphere’ and that needs to have zspheres drawn to its top and bottom. Otherwise it skins in the way you show. That’s normal behaviour.

Your images 4 & 5 are not correct behaviour though, and I cannot reproduce this. The skinning should produce a mesh that looks much like the zspheres.

Do you have the latest update to ZBrush 4R7? If you do, it will say ‘P3’ in the top left of the interface.

Thank you.

I have installed 4R7 P3 and the problem mentioned is resolved in this version.
