Problem- painting with the Zproject and Transform tool

Hello, can someone help me?
At textur painting with the Zproject and Transform tool I have follow problem - My steps:

  1. import a photo -
  2. import Head obj file-
  3. deactivate Zadd -
  4. activate Rgb -
  5. load the Zproect tool
  6. activate transform tool with Move option
  7. go from the 3D model to the photo with holding down the right mouse buttom
  8. Change to draw mode and draw.

Now the problem:
I can not clone the texture from the photo to 3D model with the Transform tool

  • only the picture information under the 3D model is copied on the 3D model when I draw on the model.

What’s wrong?

Confusing I know since there are many tutorials out there that use the transpose tool. Its been discontinued since 3.5 I believe. You can only pick up the image behind the object. However, this feature is old school compared to Spotlight in ZB4 which is phenomenal.

Thanks for your message, Nancyan.
Do you have any tips for texturing from photo to 3d model
or is cloning behind the 3d model the only one method?

You can still use the Zproject tool following the tutorial instructions, but you cannot use the transpose tools. You need to position the model over the parts you want to transfer and paint them in…and keep repositioning etc.

A better alternative is to get aquainted with spotlight.

And you can use (beta version for ZB4 if on a pc or the full version on the mac) the ZApplink plug in, if you have an paint program like illustrator or photoshop to work in. Right now that isn’t working so well for me, but I’m sure it will be fixed.

There’s probably even more methods, but my brain is a bit fried from getting up to speed here in ZB4. Just search in the docs, the wiki and for tutorials on the forums and youtube, etc. for zproject, zapplink and spotlight.

I will play around with the tools.
Thank you again for the tips.
