Problem in deformation

Hi, i created a basic creature model using maya 2008. cleaned the UV’s and i did the further details in Z brush.
the problem is when i lower the subdivision the geometry gets distorted or the application crashes. i checked the same file on my colleague’s PC,still i am facing the same problem. i have posted the distorted image.

please help…

Could you tell more about the major steps that you’ve followed since beginning the project?

as i mentioned earlier, i created model using maya 2008 and cleaned the UV’s using Headus uv. then took it to z brush. when i imported it the uvs were overlapped so i recleaned them. when i imported it for second time i used morph tool , increased the subdivision level to 6 and started sculpting. i am still in the learning stage.
these were the major steps involved.

When you changed the UV’s you also changed the point order of the model. That is why you’re getting the explosion.
