Problem importing into an adaptive skin model

Here’s the workflow I used:

Made a low-poly in Maya, sculpted in Zbrush at 6 subd levels, then rebuilt the topology with zspheres.

I made an adaptive skin with 5 subdivision levels, then saved it as its own ztool.

I exported the lowest subdivion, then went to edit the UVs back in Maya. When I import it back in, Zbrush says it’s “subdividing geometry” - then it freezes, give me the “Encountered a problem” dialog box then closes.

It does the same thing even I don’t edit the exported obj, it simply won’t let me re-import the mesh. I’m really dumbfounded by this and I’d appreciate any tips.

I know I can go and use the projection tool, but I’d rather get the import to work and save the time.

What are your system specs? How many polys does the model have at its highest level? Does it have layers? Did you save it with SubTool Master, or with Tool>Save As? If the latter, have you tried some other operations since opening it – such as appending new subtools or doing an extraction?
