problem during subdivision

i have this lingering problem with Zbrush that has unforunately discouraged me from learning the package for years. I get the base mesh inside or create itusing Zspheres. Then i tweak it for a long time to get the topology right before going to the next subdividion level. But i find that once i hit the divide button the model gets all stretched and goes haywire and i can’t account for all the time i spent tweaking the damn thing.

Can anyone pls give me the slution to my problem. It would really open my eyes. Thanks in advance.

i see noone has replied to my question. Please, i beg you to reply and solve my problem. Here i post sample images for better understanding.

thanks in advance.

your post is in the wrong forum, put this in the help forum.

What happens when you hit the Make Adaptive Skin button at the lowest resolution and then Divide the mesh in the Geometry menu? You could try messing with the Intersection Resolution and Membrane Curvature settings in the Adaptive Skin menu to see if that fixes it. Also, try turning the Minimal Skin to Child and Parent buttons on and off to see if that corrects it.

i know the answer.
FIX YOUR TOPOLOGY. YOU HAVE TRIANGLES AT THESE AREAS THAT MESS UP.WHAEN YOU HAVE A TRIANGLE IN THE AREA THAT STIKS OUTWARDS OR INWARDS THAN WHEN YOU SUBDIVIDE IT ENDS LIKE IN YOUR CASE.
GOOD LUCK

thankyou antisymmetry and paulius-st, for your help.

antisymmtry- I did check the settings you are reffering to, atleast the last 2 ones. But, i don’t remember getting favourable results. I mean, if i hit MC or MP then i would have tp go back and do the same sculpting that i did earlier.

paulius-st - I think you a right. I will go back and look at my topology. thanks buddy

lucaswschmidt- thanks for pointing it out. I searched the entire site and didn’t know where to post. Hence,… I will be careful the next time. thanks.

Thanks all.

I think your problem is not coming from the topology, but rather from the matter of fact that you`ve started sculpting in Preview Mode.
You need to make a skin (adaptive skin or unified skin) and then you can start sculpting. Or you need to store a morph target first.

By the way, which Zbrush version are you using ?
Looks like 3.1 (or are you on a Mac?)
