how can I produce zspheres with the same size than the one I clicked on? Prior to 3.5 I shift-clicked on the underneath zsphere to achieve this…any suggestions?

Draw out the new ZSphere, then hit shift and release the mouse. Now the new ZSphere will have the same size as the one you are drawing on.
Hope that helps.
Start drawing the new zsphere and then press Shift - the child zsphere will snap to the same size as its parent.
