Problem creating shell

Hello,

i sculpted a face in z-brush and the socket in rhino. The import of the rhino file and the combination with the z-brush (see image 2) works out well so far. The problems is creating a shell for rapid prototyping purposes. I always get “not enough ram” when creating shell with a subtractive cube in Dynamesh.

even so i´m working on a 12 Gb MAc and my Model has about 900 000 polys. Does anybody know how to create a shell for that modell?

  1. Try to compact memory just before you hit button “create shell”
preferences -> mem -> compact now

  2. from my won experience changing dynamesh resolution from 2048 to 1792 helps sometimes

  3. in many cases error occur when dynamesh is trying to close holes just before hollowing but when you click ok on the error popup window dynamesh should continue work with hollowing

  4. error can occur also when you set thickness too thick

what is your compact memory at. Have you tried lower the resolution of the mesh to generate the shell and then projecting your detail back on?
