Problem: can move some vertices but not others

Hello Everyone,

I’m attaching an image. It represents an attempt to create a jacket using topology. My problem is that I need to be able to extend the bottom edges of the jacket beyond the body of the model. If I switch from Edit>Draw to Edit>Move, I can move the vertices along the right edge, but I can’t move the vertices along the bottom edge. I would think that I would be able to adjust any vertices at any point. In fact, the right edge is the only area where I can move vertices. I tried to switch to wireframe view (a stab in the dark), but that had no effect.

I should mention that I’m using an appended zsphere rather than a rigged zsphere approach. The work I’ve done thusfar is essentially useless if I can’t adjust those vertices. Any help would be much appreciated.

This is to follow-up on my earlier post.

I was trying again to move vertices, being very careful that I did, in fact, have Move selected, that I was getting a red circle, centered exactly on the vertex, and trying to think of any other logical impediment. Finally, just for the heck of it, I drew another quad at the bottom (see image attached), and I tried to move it. The vertices moved. All other vertices also became movable, as if they were unlocked.

If any of this makes any sense, I would love to know what might have happened.
