If the animation didn’t turn out the way you’d hoped, you can still make a nice 3D still illustration. Give him a nice pose, render out in high-res and do post work in photoshop that would do him justice. Would be a shame to see it go to waste.
Maybe because I’m new to Zbrush I made so many mistakes. I hope that my WIP thread is serving a purpose to anyone else who is new here/ to zbrush too. I hope that newbies like myself will see this and understand that practice makes perfect, that mistakes will be made and to have the will and patience to create something wonderful. I love the best work around town here, but before I can show my sculpt I want you all who look here to see how it started and how it was made. Maybe it will help, maybe I’ll get some help etc.
So with that, here’s Mr.Black base. He’s unwrapped and ready to rock. See you soon.
Dobbie, I plan to recreate my favorite scene from the Predators finale. It will go great with how I feel about my first model.
Nubus, I plan to ask Bobby to let me print it.
Here’s my second attempt. Hopefully, this new proportion is more like the original Predator (which is what I was trying to make).
I was very inspired by the precision in the Kobe Bryant wip that I realized what I was trying to make was nowhere near what it’s supposed to be.
One of my most favorite creature, that’s predator!!!
(I thought using ‘creature’ to discribe it is not proper, since they’re much more advanced than us. We supposed to be ‘creature’ to them…:()
Nice work!
But I think those machine part of his equipment are not well made. They feel soft, seem going to be melted. Maybe next time U should make them individually, and try to represent more details on them. Then U will save lots time to achieve a better result.
Love the proportion of your predator! Big head is a feature!
Hey, cool stuff so far! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Still not finished, and still not finished did I say that already??? Maybe thats why I titled this thread, Predator WIP, but I’m thinking about changing it to “see you next year, maybe”. Oh well, I hate that its not finished (again) but I’m glad I re-sculpted the ugly mother sob piece of sh… I learned a lot and thats what matters, I think. I really want to move on but only one thing keeps me going. My friends at school! (Hi Ian) cause I wanna see their f@#$in faces when it’s done, 24 inch printed and totally bitchin…hopefully, maybe. LOL JK man I know they’re eventually going to see this. Figured I’d make a shout out to the best term at LAFS, lol …yeah, about that…
P.s. The body isn’t sculpted, and the face is only half sculpted, and I know the legs look like arse.
Darkmummy- Thanks my friend, I’m glad you noticed my melted hersheys kisses mech stuff, I’m taking your suggestion on the seperate pieces so I’m remaking the backpack thing as such.
Drkdve Thanks I hope its up to spec!
Nearly done making all the new subtools and sculpting them all for a first pass. When I go back and retouch everything for the last time I can finally start painting. I’m taking forever but thats what happens when you bite off more than you can chew. I’m working on two other things I haven’t shown off yet, but I will get to it. I hope to finish this in at least 2-3 weeks.
I made the basic outline for the skull, now I can use subdiv 4-7 (goes to 12mil p) for some crazy details. BUT I’m making the spine too so gotta cut it short to make that now. Final passes are fun though so heres this for now.
Cordycep
Predator is GREAT awesome
the only tip is this skull, try to modify the Maxilla and Mandible(jaw bone)
Maxilla is too narrow and mandible is too Wide. compare with others
Eye sockets Nasal bone and Zigomatic just need a few adjustments
The proportition is right This skull will rock man!
Great work dude!
Cheers and Keep Rocking man!
Ardox- Thank you, I really appreciate your input! Those are great catches I’ll be sure to work on the skull proportion more before I commit to adding details. Rock on you say? haha yea man I was listening to Van Halen The Best of both Worlds when I made that skull, maybe I got the essence of the best classic rock in it? I wish
Rock on I mean!
And of Course that Van Halen Rock a lot ,continue on that way untill he play Eruption song!
Classic Rock For shure man!
I’ll pose the original Predator out with this skull/spine. Any ideas how a bloody skull and spine should be painted? I figured I fill it with the shiny red mat. and paint in black goo.
Here is the Mr.Black Predator I did last month, I only made presculpt and retopo/unwrapped uv’s. My plan is to complete both of these and recreate the final scene from “Predators”. HINT: there was a lot of green goo.
-Ardox-You know it!!!

With spine or without, this is the pose that will be printed.
antisymmetry-Thank you sir. I want to do a base that has a dude (my teacher) on the floor laying against a rock getting his spine ripped out (the concept I uploaded just now). I want it to look as if it’s happening, like some sort of matrix style scene. I’ll add some jungle environment stuff, trying to get a 3d print of it too. Not sure yet.

Great work! The Predator looks nice! The skull and vertebra are well done. Are you going to give the Predator a base to stand on?
Lookin for Critiques and tips, this rendering business needs to workout or this will be pure fail. It’s funny to look at the very first post I made on this thread. This character is literally an example of all the things I learned since. When I start working on my next “final” character, hopefully I wont be making a million mistakes like I did and still am doing with this one.
