Predation Creature Short - Armatus Cornuta

Predation is a short film I made in its entirety. Both of my creatures Armatus-Corunta https://www.artstation.com/artwork/WKaoav and Xenooculi began with concepting hundreds of different creature possibilities. I knew from the start that I wanted to present my creatures similar to how National Geographic presents wildlife. After concepting I began sculpting both in clay (study) and in ZBrush and later began procedural python rigging in Maya. Mari was the main software I used for texturing. The animation was completed in Maya and the groom was completed with xgen. Rendered in Redshift.

With radioulnar motion, Armatus Cornuta is unlike any other proboscideans . Their ability to rotate their forearm allows for them to grasp fruits from trees and feed themselves using their hands. They are omnivorous eating both fruits and fish. Their large weight and sometimes fierce temper make them a force not to be reckoned with. Their young are often preyed upon by Xenooculi a large apex predator that stalks from the skies and has a deadly bite. The Armatus Corunta have large horns used for protection and to fight with rival males. The gular pouch increases in vibrancy when in heat. They give birth to live young. The armour plating ranges in density allowing for more range of motion were still offering protection from predators.!
