It does not sound too posetive…
But it looks good, your new to Zbrush and seems to be really motivated, so soon you will be making “top-rows”(five stars;)).
Hey guys I tried something new I hope you all like it
Santis:. thanks man I really hope to see my work on the top row, but i think i must keep on practising I am faaaaar away in quality and art from these guys on the top row

Looking at the images from the beginning of your thread to your last one above I can say you’re well on your way! All beginnings are difficult. But it seems like you are ambitious which is good.
Just don’t give up.
One suggestion: Maybe ask a friend for taking photos of his head and use them as a reference.
So far. Keep it up!
The first guy is pretty hard to judge because there is no correct anatomy to refer to.
The 2nd guy looks very good
Why the hell would anybody rate this 1 star? Idiot.
What you need to practice is facial anatomy. Find some references and draw from them. I’ve found that drawing really improved my sculpting skills.
Keep it up and you will become great
Best

GeneralElu:. thanks man and yeah the beginings are always difficult, but practicing makes stuff easier, I keep telling my self that hahahaa
Santis:. thanks man I m glad tht u think so of the other one , the first is just an alien with no refrences at all
guilemo:. thanks man , I just wanna know how to fix it and you guys told me how and I am willing to do so, but the problem I have no drawing skills at all I cant draw a line on a piece of paper :td:
Hey guys I tried using refrence images, but here comes a question when I read the skull sculpting tutorial from the Wiki I could nt turn the image planes to a different material always it inherits the face’s material why??? and one other thing should I do the base mesh similar to the refrence picture or just start doing it in Zbrush it self?? thanks for the attention
Hey guys on the new head I tried to add on some hair and beard but its not as good as other hair sculpted here in the forum so can anyone tell me about alphas that can be utilized for this purpose or anyother technique thanks alot:D and Made another wierd creature I hope you like it and C&C

Like both of them, the human is the best one in this thread so far
Santis:. Glad that you liked them, and I did another human and creature I hope that its not a set back but a move forward so tell me what you think?
Hey everyone I took yesterday off and came back with those new heads I hope you like it and the precious C&C is always welcomed and needed

The human looks really nice, but the emotional faces feels a little bit exaggerated, try to use some refrences when you pose the
Cool beast
Do you model the faces in another program or is it made in ZB from scratch?
Santis:. Glad that you liked it:D all heads are from one base mesh that softimage xsi has it built in it and all other stuff is done in ZBrush
Guys I tried to sculpt real heads(LOST Mathew Fox, 24 Keather sutherland) but I had some problems and here is a list of questions?
- Do I start from scartch and try to achieve likeness in Zbrush or should the likeness be achieved in the base mesh first?
- In early levels I can achieve likeness but the moment the model gets dense I lose likeness why is that?
- I cant seperate the material of the image planes and the model?? How can I resolve that??
Thanks guys for your attention and time
-
It depends on what technique your using, but you colud go for both.
-
The model gets smoother and it makes the model more round.
But it dont have to, if you turn off the “smt” button next to the div slider you get more polys with the same shape on the model, so hard edges will still be hard. The biggest changes in the shape occurs when its still low-poly. -
It shouldt be any problem if you keep them in different subtools.
Hope this can help you, ask again if you didnt understand or had any problems:)
The faces, their expressions, they made me laugh throughout this thread. Scimming through the last few faces posted, I can picture them in a 3D short. I think they would look great and hilarious in movement and on bodies. :p
1 star generally means someone thinks your work is terrible. Although this is the first time ever I think I have seen 11 votes only result in 1 star. I wouldn’t trust that system though. You are obviosly a begginer with a lot off practice ahead of you. You didn’t show a single finished model or ask for this thread to be rated, so in my opinion what happened is a bunch of pessimistic a-holes, 11 to be exact, were having a bit of fun rating the thread really low to satisfy some sick sensation of self gratitude. Granted what you’re showing is not good in quality, main reason is because of the proportions. However, it’s not worthy of 1 star(terrible).
santis:. thanks man for the answers they are helpful but the “different materials for subtools” still exists and I ll try to do as you suggested for the likeness issues thanks again, I have another question concerning the different materials for subtools is in the wiki tutorial it mentioned that I should save the white material out …why should I do so??
Sil 369:. Glad that you liked them and thanks for the nice words;)
JesseGraffam:. Thanks man and I know that I am faaaaar awaay from the quality presented in this forum, but one day I might reach this level of quality and art, and concerning the proportions I am trying to work this issue out in everytime I start a new head, and the 1 star rating I dont mind that my work is rated this way the only thing tht I was questioning is why it was rated this way
and now thanks to you and others, I know why and I am determining to sort this out
I hope you guys like this one

okay. well if you really want to get better. I would focus on 1 head and work the hell out of it until it gets really detailed and awesome. Only then should you go ahead and start a new one. I think you’re taking on too much right now. Especially for a beginner.
Also the best way to get proportions right in Zbrush it to adjust them a the lowest sub-d level. That way you may only have to move 4 polys rather than 50,000 polys depending on your mesh.
great starts. i find the facial anatomy to be a bit lacking. maybe study more facial muscles groups and i think alot more of the life will come out of these faces. great way to study and get used to the program.
Looks nice, like the seriouse one
Try Jesse´s idea, detail one head, and try to get all the proportions rigth and so on.
