Explore radial symmetry. Transform>Activate Symmetry>® for radial. Also, the Curve Lathe brush may be of interest.

I also managed to find a great vase tutorial in CGArena which indeed demos the radial symetry.
BTW - My instant notification does not work… dont know why…

Radial Sym is a great way to make lots of stuff. I use it to make wheels (video link below), axles and a ton of other things:
