possible to save masks on an object?

Is it possible to save different masks while working on an object? It takes time to mask sometimes and I’d love to jump back and forth between different masks while working rather than having to clear a mask and remask again.

if the model has UVs you can convert it to an alpha from the mask palette, then mask by alpha when you need it.
otherwise no.

sorry, still new to all this… I use modeling softwares and currently learning zbrush mainly to prototype objects.

Can you point me to how I could do what you mentioned using UVs?

up top, under zplugin there is a plugin called UVMaster. you can use that to unwrap the model, in other words give it UVs.
bare in mind though if your object is in the high 10s of thousands in polygons, UVmaster may crash.

thanks… and how does zbrush utilize the UVs to create the alphas/masks? Do I need to paint the UVs like a color coded texture map or can I transfer the mask on the object to the UV map with the click of a button?
