Posing w mask/transpose question from beginner

I’m using transpose to pose a woman’s hand on her hip. I’ve got the two elements so close together that I can’t paint a mask on the fingers without also inadvertently masking part of the hip as well. I’m trying to do the fine adjustments to the fingers so that it looks like her hand is resting comfortably … skin to skin.

Figure I must be going about this the wrong way. How else can I isolate the hand when it is so close to the hip? This is part of larger project where I’ve got a lot of work showing two figures touching … lots of tool to tool contact.

Thanks,
David

There are a couple of ways that would typically be used for this.

  1. Hiding using polygroups, If the arm (or hand) is a different polygroup than the hip you could hid the hip by selecting to keep the hand visible or vice versa if you wanted to work on the hip rather than the hand. Se this link. http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Polygroups
  2. you Can hide parts of the mesh (the hip area for instance) by using this method. See this video http://vimeo.com/8369936

Appreciate the direction … makes perfect sense.
