posing, but what happens to the other subtools?

Hi, Im a concept artist working on my second character that I call Demon Spawn. I will post it for crits but first I need to finalize. I was wondering. If you make a ZSphere skeleton rig and pose the character, what shall I do with the chainmail or anything else that is on the body and would actually move? What is the solution for it?

I was thinking:

  1. Create ZSphere rig
  2. Pose the body
  3. What happens to the chainmail?
  4. What happens to his bracelet?
  5. SHall I merge all of them and then unmerge, is that possible?
6,. What are the mechanics to do it right?

I really need help guys. Working all night tonight to finish him, so please an answer would be very appritiated.

The Transpose Master plugin is designed to help when posing a model with subtools. Basically it creates a low resolution version of your model with all the subtools merged, which you then pose using either a zsphere rig or the Transpose line and masking. The plugin then transfers the pose back to the original model.

Marcus. Thanks man! I really need to grasp some of the great features of Zbrush. There is one thing that sort of bugs me a little. When I append a new tool the subtool palette does not select it automatically? Is there a way to do this? Maybe a script or similiar.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible to script a solution. The problem is that the script continues to run rather than wait until after the Append button is pressed, so it never manages to select the last subtool.

The best I can do is a macro that selects the last subtool. If you assign a keyboard shortcut to the button or make it part of a custom interface it should help a bit with your workflow.

Simply save the text file to your ZBrush 4R7\ZStartup\Macros\Misc folder. Press Macro>Reload All Macros and you should have a new “Select Last” button in the Misc sub-palette.

Oh, awesome. Thank you Marcus. I´ll test it as soon as I can. Im working on art tests for CCP for a concept art position and I was really looking, like you said to improve my workflow techniques as it needs alot of work, you know. Once again, thank you and I´ll be hanging around here:) Take care!!!
