Poseable Satyr (Walkthrough) From ZSphere to Poser5 -Update#4- More MorphTargets

I would love it if you would post some images of your facial rigging process in Poser. I will be attempting that myself if posibble in the next couple months. Thanks, I really dig this couple.

Bye the way how many polys are they before you bring them into poser?

Chad,
I appreciate the kind words my friend! Poser is pretty cool if you can’t afford the high end apps, I’ve been using it for a long time, I’ll be getting P6 soon too!! ;~)
Your work rocks BTW!

Pilou,
Thanks bro!

lemonnado,
I’m glad this thread helped you some… as far as using Poser rigs in other apps… Unfortunately no. There are programs that will let you bring your poser animation into the big apps. However, not the rigging! It is too bad that Point Oven won’t do it!
Most of the rigging is indeed application specific… Point Oven only works with the big boys!
You can import and export .BVH motion capture files using Poser.

Stephen,
I don’t actually rig the face. Instead I create and use Morph Targets for facial animation and expression.
As far as the polygon count goes, I generally like to keep my figures in the -50,000 polygon range for Poser. But a detaied large model like adragon, may require up to 100,000 polygons. This Figure has 33,408 polys and Fani has 30,404.

Best regards,
Michael

Thanks Michael, that clears up my questions fine. I will have to look into morph targets. It is impressive how low your poly count is in these charactors.

Hello PusGhetty,

I am very new with Poser and Zbrush  and i am planning to create my own lil character and then, i’d also like to make rig it into Poser

I just wanted to ask you a question… About how long did you spend on the Satyr? Did you work on it full time or on/off?

Thanks in advance…

Kevin

Kevin,
The satyr took about three months to complete in my spare time… working on and off… the fawn took about four months because of the conforming clothes and INJ/REM morphs and MIC’s(Morph Injection Channels)… also done in my spare time.

Things are quite different currently! Nowadays I am the 3D Character Design and Development Director at www.3DCommune.com. I create 100% original Poser figures full time and have a team of developers to help me do all the dirty work. It still takes a couple of months for my team to finish a figure though. There is a lot of work involved and half of it is spent on the marketing and promotions!

Hope this helps!

Best Regards,
Michael

Fantastic rigging and character !!!

I’ve done a couple of guys this way !!!
Antonio.

Fantastic character and what an excellent thread to read – very useful to learn from your experience. Thank you for sharing!

Who would of thou you could find this much info on rigging a custom Poser in a zbrush thread. One question what if you already have a facegen head
and want to import it in a poser 6 w/out a body. Something like a “stick puppet head.”

Can you please explain to me how is the eyes rigged . Meaning are the eyes
made as a separate objects and if so how do you make them move together with the head?

I am interested in knowing how long it took for the process.
Maybe a break down?
Thanks
Keep up the nice work.
