Portrait of Scarlett Johansson

I find it funny that some people are complaining about this not being art, yet we have dozens upon dozens of similar portraits in the gallery and no one complained about those…

This looks really good… Love the details… I do agree that it doesn’t have enough sss, so the detail kinda ends up looking harsh… I also would’ve preferred seeing another pose; looking straight at the camera makes everything a little awkward… Other than that great job!

Great hair comp!!! Eyes are beautiful. Sculpt is very nice, too, but the shiny skin material and bright lighting aren’t doing it justice. Impressive work still :+1:

Indeed she is yummy. Like all other stunning ladies she deserves a stunning 3D portrait and here it is.

Stunning work mate, keep it up!

It took me a while to realize why her skin pore looked so faceted. after actually READING WHAT YOU WROTE, I think the skin is very well done, especially for a zbrush render. Zbrush’s SSS functions are nice, but they are Mental Ray quality. Had this been render in using mental ray’s SSS, those bumps would most likely appear less exaggerated.
My favorite parts are her eyelids and lips. It takes some serious skill to get those right.

Solid work the subtle details is what makes this.

yes, that´s what I thought too when I saw this work. the skin does not look finished… lips to big… too much “photohair” … and I would love to see the Zbrush model without all photoshop layers. we got no informations about the Zbrush work. that would be nice see.
and some color please

I got to agree with one of the earlier posts.

THIS FORUM IS FULL OF VERY small PEOPLE.
I would not blame the guy for never showing anything here again and I personally will not either. This forum needs to get a grip of its members and their pathetic low class comments.

No person is obliged to show anything else but what they wish to. It is their thread. BASTA!

If you want something then ask politely or PM the guy but this C R A P has got to stop.

If any student in my classes behaved like this they would be frog marched out the front gate. Get a frackin GRIP and hey MODS - instead of being so god damn liberal etc do some serious modding and get of the friggin fence. LAME excuses for moderators - most likely just protecting their precious little ZBRUSH product. Grow up and please ban me or something because I could give a flying frack if you do.

stop with the friggin censorship and show my post you lmf!

Seems to me that this forum needs a little growing up and that includes the moderators who seem to be pretty transparent and absent when it comes to vetting the stuoidity and mean of spirit posts that some people seem to be not able to avoid posting.
Lets clean up the general mood around here and stop with the narrow minded childish comments.

Something odd is happening here, I see there are new replies but Pitchepucks seems to be the last one when I open the thread. Im still waiting to see the ZBrush work done on this, that`s why I check.

Amazing work!!! That is looking very very realistic … + :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:sunglasses:

  • the eyes …so beautiful …

Can you post some shots of how ZBrush or other software was used?

hi,nice, very good realistic work.i like ,plz tex this face.

OMG! How you did eyelashes?:grimacing:

This comes across as rather sneaky. His original post only mentions using Photoshop for the hair and compositing, but the eyes looked much more accurate than the nose, mouth, and the rest of the face. I found the original image he used and did a quick overlap, and most of the eyelids are just copy-pasted photosourcing with some extra brushwork to extend the lashes. For an image designed to recreate the likeness of a real person, stealing the eyes from a photo rather than recreating them is pretty lame.

It’s interesting to watch this thread devolve into a witch-hunt. I’m not saying objective inspection is unjustified, but wouldn’t it just be better to watch and see if this person can create interesting art over time, and not just rip it off once?

If this is a rip-off to us, isn’t it simply a learning experience to him? And if so, shouldn’t he be given room to grow? If his abilities advance, then this was a good thing, and if they don’t, then he’s the only one being hurt, so what’s our stake in it?

Sure, this whole thing might be a case of artistic immaturity, but we were all immature artists at one point. I learned to draw tracing comic books with tracing paper when I was 9 (or at least got the bug then), and I bet a lot of others here have similar stories. In the beginning, we imitate.

Interesting. Love seeing these things. when I do my images I painstakingly render out my passes and never use photoshop to add brush work detail that would not be done is the process of composting. Seen this a lot in many images that have been highly praised by the 3d community, that are said to be 3D works rendered and composited when in truth have been heavily photoshopped to get that perfection.

This should be seen more so as a nice concept image.

I’ll add that I like the image it self.

Still no shaded views from the artist :-1: ?

That’s called “hit and run” And I for one really don’t care about the Zbrush shaded view of the model alone, cause it all really comes down to this : of both the majority of people as well as ZBC staff, it’s just does the final image look good or not. Is is hip or not. As I always say, no top row can ever do justice to any one. It can make you popular in this monetary system (if you do something that is close to what is already popular, in techniqe, subject, composition, rendering, etc), but other than that it hasn’t got what it takes to call something good, and something less good. Well not really anyways, even though it does  In reality it causes all the newcomers to look up to it, and think that’s what they should be striving to do - make what the client, or people, or ZBC staff wants of you. Well I for one am against it, and I’m just waiting to come to top row to come down on all of that. You are just not listened to if you aren’t up there
