Polypainting to texture doesn't work

First off, this is my first time building a model in Zbrush, I’ll say sorry upfront about asking a probably dumb question.

I’ve made my model, detailed it to a subdivision level of 7 and painted it. To my knowledge, to turn the painting into a texture I have to UV map the model with the subdivision level to one. However if I hit AUVTiles my model turns white. I shrugged it off and tried to continue by turning the subdivisions up to 7 again and hit Texture Map > New from Polypaint. At this point my model turns black with some spots of colour. I tried various UV Mappings, even UV master but it’s always the same.

what is your RGB setting at? Were you painting with pure black? What does morph UV look like?
