Polypainting Question: Please Read!

Really quick weird issue I had. I polypainted a pair of gloves and exported the texture for my Diffuse Map. Afterwards I wanted to do stitching so what I did was polypaint all white on the gloves then Just painted the stitches (black) which I would Overlay on top of the Diffuse map I exported out previously.

Now, when I go to Texture map > New From Polypaint, it doesnt take the stitches that I just made, it outputs the old Diffuse Map I painted on the gloves previously.

Long story short its “New from Polypaint” isnt taking the new paint data, its using the old data still.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

are you using layers? if so, try to bake all layers and then create texture from polypaint;

also you have to clone the texture before exporting it

hope this helps

No I’m not using layers actually, what I guess I did was just paint white over my gloves to kind of “clear” the old polypainting data, then just started to paint the stitches.

I’m still kind of new to polypainting and didnt know you could have layers of paint data. (Like Photoshop?)

But yeah, when I am done painting the stitches and go “New from Polypaint” it outputs the old polypaint data. I cant figure out why its doing this haha. Thanks for your response!

Found a workaround for anyone who has this issue!

Just make a Layer and it will clear all other polypainting data you may of had on the model.

Thank you for this! I came to the forums because I had this exact same issue, I wasn’t using any current layers, but my polypaint to texture was grabbing old data. I created a new layer, hit record, and bake all and it got the correct paint data. Thanks!
