polypainting model goes black

hey,…its me again,…i have followed tutorial in zclassroom called “Polypainting”. Problem is that when i press col>txr my model goes black. i also, before i start painting press enable Uv,( i tried all combos, with pressed before after not pressed at all and still goes black)…and i get no texture shown on the left…

Enabling UV’s simply allows them to be assigned again. It does not actually assign any though. You’ll need to do so before you can convert PolyPaint to texture.

ironically, enable UV doesn’t automatically restore UVs once they have been disabled (deleted). You need to re-define or re-import the UVs. Perhaps ZB3.5 will change this.

As a test, press TOOL:Texture:GUVTiles first, then select your texture map, then press Col>Txr and you should see your polypainting transferred to the texture map (instead of black).

A while ago I created a plugin which deals with this issue and also simplifies the polypainting process… you can find that HERE.
