Hi everyone!
I would like to know if there is a way to project polypainting (made for example with zapplink or imageplane) from one side of the model to the other, like we can do with smart resym.
Thanx
Not sure if there’s a better way, but one fairly quick method is as follows:
- in your tool, with the subtool you want to paint selected, go to subtool->append, and choose the tool you’re working on. This will clone your mesh as a subtool of itself.
- select the new subtool, take it to the highest subdivision level (or whatever level you want to copy polypaint from) and delete all lower (and higher) subdivision levels.
- still on the new subtool, go to deformation and mirror on the appropriate axis (normally X)
- select your main paint-target subtool
- hide all other subtools except for your original paint target subtool and the new clone/mirrored one
- Select the ZProject brush, and turn off Zadd/Zsub.
- paint where you want the color to be transferred to. You may want to mask any areas you don’t wish to change (such as the ‘good’ half of the model)
- When finished, delete your cloned subtool.
This method works even if the mesh has significant asymmetry, although you’ll possibly need to reposition your cloned version to put the paint copy in the right place.
Thanx for the quick answer!
This will help me a lot! I’ll try in a couple of days, I 'll tell you if I have any problem!
Thanx again
