Polypaint to texture problem

Hi everyone. I haven’t posted here in ages and ages, but I’ve run into a problem I can’t seem to figure out for myself. I’ve polypainted a model, in 5th subdivision level, and when I use the create texture from polypaint, all I get is a white texture on a black background with no color information. My model has UV’s, RGB is turned on, polypaint is set to colorize, the paintbrush icon is turned on in subtools, etc. I have tried to generate the map in the highest subd and in the lowest. I am able to generate displacement maps, haven’t tried normal maps. I have run into this before and somehow solved it, but I can’t remember what I did to make it work.

I have also tried saving the project file, closing zbrush, and then reloading the project. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Edit: I should add that I am not working with layers and there are no masks on the model.

Is RGB set to 100%? No good texture shows in texture map after new from Polypaint?

Yes, the RGB is 100%. Odd thing, this does not happen every time I try this, only occasionally and I have no idea what the circumstances are that make this an issue.

can we see your UVs?

Did you try saving the tool, closing ZBrush and then loading it into a fresh project with your settings at 100%? Also are you on a PC or a Mac?

Doug, I did not try saving tool, closing, open new project. At least, not with the intent of fixing the issue. The day after I posted this problem on ZBC, I continued my work on the model, but as a new project and this time I had no problems generating a texture from the polypaint. Go figure. The next time I have this problem, I will try your suggestion straight away and see if that clears the issue.

Until then, thanks everyone for your suggestions. Unfortunately (fortunately?) since it is no longer happening, I can’t try anything else. But, it will happen again, as it has many times before, and I may be back for help again. :slight_smile:
