Polypaint to Bumpmap Pixelation

I am currently working on a character head and am attempting to paint my bump map using poly paint

After i paint the model I generate a 4K texture map

I then apply BumpViewrMaterial
however the new bumps look jagged and pixelated

Do I need a higher Res Tex map?

And is it possible to Paint directly on the texture map?

and help would be great

how many points are on the mesh that you’re applying the 4k map to?
every point on the mesh can translate into 1 pixel on the map. so if you’re using 100% of your UV space then you need to have around 16million points on that mesh to support the texture you’re generating. If you have less then Zbrush is going to have to guess at what pixels go where.
