PolyPaint texture transfer?

Hi fellow ZBrushers…

I’m still a struggling newbie, and as such I’ve ran into a big problem. I have PolyPainted a high poly model, meant for use in an RTS game. I retopologized it using ZRemesher etc (from 1,8 million to 1,4k polys) and when doing so, ZB removes the texture for some reason… Now I have two tools (meshes) of the original sculpt. One high poly with texture, and one low poly with no texture. I created UV for the low poly with UVMaster, and now I want to transfer the texture onto it, so I can export the texture directly to the UV map. But there’s seems to be no way to do this? Do I have to redo the PolyPaint directly on the low poly mesh?

http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/topology/zremesher/transferring-detail/

first subdivide the lowpoly mesh until it’s about the same poly count as the painted one. then with both visible in the subtool palette click on “project all”. that will project the detail and paint from the original to the subdivided lowpoly one. then click on “new from polypaint” in the texture palette and you have your texture, clone it over to the texture window to export it.

and if you don’t like how some of the sculpting detail projected over, it’s ok since now you have the texture you can just undo the projection.

Oooh… it was that simple? Thank you! Now the only problem is that when projecting - the result is a mixture of the low poly unpainted mesh and the high poly painted mesh. That is, a good looking mesh with “holes” in it where the low poly unpainted mesh sticks though :o
