Polypaint / Material issue

Hello! I’m not sure how to say this (haha, nature of the problem, eh?) so ill just get right in!

I am unable to change the material for all subtools at once. Changing materials with MRGB or M selected doesn’t affect some of the tools. If it does I am unable to determine this. Perhaps because of the second part of my trouble.

I am unable to paint the eyes (and other subtools) properly (RBG channel selected - Zadd off - standard brush). Color seems to be unaffected by material changes. The gloss or tinge to the color doesnt change. Painting painting areas also has a hard edge (1.3 million polys). I’m not sure why. There is no smoothness whatsover. Zoomed in or otherwise - even with RGB channel on 50 as example.

Changing the color (with the intention to polypaint - rgb channel selected in polypaint mode) changes the color of the material for some of the other subtools - which is not my intention. Even if it was - changing only a few of the subtools would be an issue in of itself…

I suspect these issues are interlaced so I put them all here at once.

No idea what to look for! I have watched a few videos on YouTube and the pixologic polypaint Videos… havent seen or heard any mention of anythhing around these effects.

Which materials are you working with?

Lemme clarify real quick.

I dont know how to avoid changing the color of the whole model when changing color (when trying to polypaint).

RGB Channel on
Zadd off

Only the one subtool is in polypaint mode (which may be the problem?).

If so - how can I individually change the material for each subtool?
