Polypaint lost with multiple layers in ZB 4r2?

Are there any do’s and dont’s if you want to use layers to model and polypaint interactively? I now worked extensively on a model and polypainted it. During that process I created a number of layers. But now that the model is done and painted there just doesn’t seem to be a way I can bake the layers, create a texture map or even touch a layer slider without losing all the polypaint data that is clearly visible on the screen. It’s like the vertex colors I’m seeing exist in limbo somewhere.

Suggestions much appreciated as I’m working against a deadline. But clearly, if it’s this easy to lose polypaint data using layers I shall have to stay away from that in the future.

I had some problems with this earlier. Moving layer sliders seems to remove polypainting data, and possibly sculpting as well. I haven’t tested it much at all, but it’s a problem.

For me the polypainting vanishes when I start a layer recording again. It seems to turn off for various reasons, and you lose all your polypainting when you resume recording.

The only way to avoid my problem is to undo back up to a functional recording point.

I’ll post more when I have time to check things out.
