Polypaint issues with ZTool [Answered]

Hi

I have started polypainting a ZTool, first filling it with a color, then painting it. I would like to change the material of the ZTool and be able to see the material beneath the paint, to change the appearance of the tool. The issue is that I cant change the material of the object in paint mode. It sets to the first color I filled the model with. If I switch off colorize, I can set the material but when I switch it back on, the original color base is there.

How does one set the material in colorize mode? Also, how does one delete the color history and be able to paint again?

Thanks

You can fill a model (by pressing Color>Fill Object) using color, material or both. The way you tell ZBrush which you want is through the Rgb, M or Mrgb switches that are at the top of the UI or in the Draw palette. Rgb gives you just color, M gives you just material, and Mrgb gives you both. So:

  1. To fill a model with a particular material without erasing the polypaint just have the M switch on.
  2. To erase any polypaint select white in the color selector and fill with the Rgb switch on.

If you decide that you want to get rid of the material and go back to the default behaviour of the model displaying the selected material then fill the object with the Flat Color material.

Thanks Marcus.
