Polypaint from texture problem ?!

Hey there!
I bumped into a stupid strange problem.
I have my OBJ unwrapped in my 3dapp (XSi), import it in Zbrush put a texture on it, then from UVmap tile the texture to my liking and then when convert the texture to polypaint it ignores the tiling of the texture ?!?!?!?
I cant solve this problem ?!
Here is a screen - in the left is the tiled texture (on the shoulders) and in the right is the result when i convert it to polypaint!

Yes, that won’t work. Here’s a method that should work OK for you:

  1. Change the Canvas dimensions in the Document palette so that they are the same as your texture (for example, 1024 x 1024) up to a maximum of 2048.
  2. Select the Plane3D ztool and draw it on the canvas.
  3. Don’t turn on Edit mode (or turn it off if it’s on). Turn on the Scale button, so that the Gyro appears.
  4. Open the Transform palette and click on the Info submenu. There are three sliders: X, Y and Z Component. In the X and Y sliders enter a value of half your texture size (e.g. 512). This scales the plane to the same size as the canvas.
  5. Switch on the Move button and enter the same values into the X and Y sliders as you did at (4). This will center the plane so that it will completely fill the canvas.
  6. Click the Tool>Texture Map>Texture Map thumbnail and select the texture you want to use.
  7. In the Tool>UV Map submenu apply the tile repeat you want.
  8. In the Render palette switch on Flat Render.
  9. In the Texture palette press the GrabDoc button. Switch Render>Preview back on.

You should now have a new texture in the Texture palette which you can apply to your model and which will transfer to polypaint as you wish.

HTH,

Or >>>> if you want an easier work around, after tiling the texture to your liking, just export your mesh as .OBJ and then import it back in Zbrush, you will now see that the tileable option under Tool>UV Map has been reseted but your texture still apply the way you like, then just transfer your Texture to your Polypaint via Txr>Col and Voila!!!

Cool! :sunglasses: I hadn’t thought of that. It works well, and is certainly much quicker and easier. :+1:

QQ??20110424215859.jpg As you see,how to display this picture clearly on the meshplane? Thanks for any solutions…

ihack,
You need to subdivide the plane so that it has enough resolution to support the image detail.

It’s been solved according to your method…thank you very much…
