"Polypaint from Texture" doesn't work at all

I have polypainted a model I’m working on, and then baked it as a texture to send to photoshop to enhance the contrast. Then I import it back and everything shows up as it should, but I can NOT convert the texture map into polypaint. There is no such key as txr>clr anymore in zbrush as I am aware of, and the Polypaint from Texture button does not work either, it doesn’t do anything at all, cause the old polypaint remains beneath, no change. This is very frustrating.

Summary:

Polypaint from Texture does no update or override the previous polypaint.

what is your RGB setting at?
is the texture applied to the mesh in Tool > Texture?

I have solved the problem, and I think this has been the problem for MANY others on this forum talking about these broken UVs and prism effect looking UVs. My models normals were flipped and also set to two-sided so i couldn’t tell. I don’t know why it was set like that. When I exported to max it was flipped and I thought it was just an export issue or something random so I flipped back it before unwrapping. BHowever, turns out its a BIG deal. The only odd thing was that I couldn’t flip my model back in Zbrush, probably because I had HD-geometry on. Cause I had to clone the model, losing the HD geometry in order to flip the normals back in Zbrush.

So if you have a messed up UV problem in ZBrush 3.5 and cant solve it no matter what, check if the model is flipped, and set to two-sided so it doesn’t look that way. I think that was the source of the problem. From now on i will pay close attention to what direction the normals of the model is whenever i start on one, and export.

Polypaint from texture works fine

I my case it didn’t work because I had a layer in a recording mode. I turned it off and was able to apply colors from texture.
