polypaint clone brush? eye dropper?

If i’m using poly paint, are these tools accessible while painting?

I want to be able to sample a point and have it go to the pallete, like in photoshop. And obviously a clone tool.

click on the color pallet on the left hand side of the screen with the LMB click and drag from the center of that pallet to the color you want to sample.

Walla color has now changed to that.

That is the Zbrush eye dropper

oh, okay. Thats rather cumbersome. Thanks!

By the way, your videos for learning zbrush have been invaluable, both for zbrush 3 and 2. Thanks so much.

I hope you get your website up to date soon!

Get this:

The hotkey ‘C’ will pick a color from anywhere on the ZBrush UI.

To clone polypaint:

  1. Move your model off center and position so that the area you want to clone from is visible. Snapshot the model to the canvas using the keybord shortcut Shift+S (or press Transform:Snapshot). Move model to other side and position.

  2. Switch to the ZProject brush. Switch off ZAdd and switch on RGB. Make sure RGB intensity is 100.

  3. Switch on Move and draw an action line from the area you wish to paint to the area on the snapshot you wish to clone.

  4. Make sure only the subtool you wish to paint is visible.Switch Draw back on and paint.

On ZSwatch (thanks ghonma  ) : an update to this is in the works.

HTH,

hot damn but that’s clever, marcus! Thanks for sharing the tip.

Has this color cloning function been disabled in later versions of the program? Been following the advice below but cannot get the Zproject brush to transmit color to a target subtool unless the clone original is directly below the target.

That’s the way it works now.

Ok, thanks. Luckily I found another way of achieving a similar thing by grabbing the document and sending it to Spotlight and then using the spotlight method for cloning. A bit cumbersome though. A direct-working cloning brush for copying polypaint info from one part of a model to another would be more ideal.
