polypaint and displace

Hi

I was wondering what the best techinique was to use the same texture map to polypaint and sculpt at the same time. I have to create some highresolution shelfs and I have this wood texture that I would like to to use. I tried using the the texture in the texture slot and used a BW version for the displacement in the alpha then the problem is the texture dosent come out in the black alpha areas.

Thanks

This is one method you can use. This way, you don’t need an alpha map.

  1. Use Spotlight to paint the texture (color map) only. RGB 0,0,0 (pure black) is transparent in ZBrush. If you have any pure black in the color map, use the Contrast on the Spotlight wheel to adjust the contrast so you don’t have any pure black.

  2. Once the texture is painted, go to “Tool > Masking > Mask By Color” and click “Mask By Intensity”.

  3. Go to “Tool > Deformation” and use “Inflate” slider to add the required depth. Click on the “Inflate” slider to get the red number box and enter numerical values for fine adjustment.
