Polygroups & SubTools Confusion

Polygroups
Polygroups allow you to organize the mesh with visual grouping information. Polygroups only create separate selection areas. Your mesh is still one contiguous surface. Polygroups are one way to organize your mesh.

SubTools
SubTools create separate pieces of geometry.

OK, I am confused as to what method is mostly used. For example if I use SubTools to create a figure with separate subtools for the shirt and pants, then I can’t pose it with SubTools.

But if I use Polygroups, then my clothing can’t be separated from the model.

So I am confused as to what method is best if I want to first create a model with separate parts and then pose it. Please explain a method to do this and what most people do as I am very confused.

I would like to create something like this with all of the separate geometry but I also want to pose it so how do they do it?

Thanks

To pose multiple subtools you need to use the Transpose Master plugin from the download centre.

Nice!

Thanks Richard.

So do you know where do I find instructions on installing Plug-Ins for mac? Sorry, I just bought ZBrush yesterday so a newbie.

Many of the plugins have a PDF that gives full instructions but they all follow the same pattern for installation. See here:

For the Download Center, see my signature.

Thanks Marcus!
