First off I have tried a repair install and a reinstall to fix this problem but it still keeps crashing Zbrush. I have to say I have found version 4 to be very glitchy on my system compared to 3.5. I have a core i7 920 12gb ram (not that zbrush can use it) a gtx 280 and windows 7 64bit ultimate.
The problem that has given me the most grief is transpose master for z4. It is not behaving the same as the previous version, tools I have turned off or masked out still appear in the tpose tool and are still editable? The biggest problem is the applying all the changes back to the original tools, I get a message that the topology has changed (the construction hasn’t) and if you click no it doesn’t update the geometry, if you click yes it crashes zbrush or screws up a random subtool? Is there a problem with transpose master v4?
I don’t know what might be causing the general problems you are having but I find there’s an issue with Transpose Master where if the last subtool in the list is turned off it will still appear in the combined mesh. This will lead to problems when you transfer the pose. My apologies - this issue will be fixed as soon as possible and an update released.
In the meantime, make sure the last subtool is visible and all should be well.
A note on masking: if you mask a subtool then it will still appear in the combined mesh but will still be masked (though the masking will only show when you turn on Tool>Masking>View Mask), so won’t be affected by any posing unless you clear the mask. Any masks still in place should not affect the pose transfer back to the subtools.
I did another fresh install (deactivated zbrush, unistalled the program, removed any folders and files left in the programs directory and reinstalled). This seems to have fixed a few of the glitches such as the program not launching properly. Who knows it may even be windows 7 causing problems. The transpose issue is still there but your post explains that, though I noticed when I did get it to work using the way you explained all may scale values reset to defaults in the export window. I still seem to get the annoying problem when entering numerical values that the subtool seem sot change mid way through entering a value, is this a hotkeys issue)?
I’m glad you have managed to solve some of the problems.
The Transpose Master combined mesh will have Export Scale/Offset values set to 1/0 but your original subtools should be unaffected. (TM temporarily changes them while switching in the pose, changing them back at the end. If the transfer is interrupted they may remain at the default. Is this what has happened?)
I find the best way to enter values into sliders is to click on it and enter numbers from the keyboard. You can move to the next slider by pressing tab.
Many thanks for the feedback.
It is hard to say, I finally got the transpose master to update meshes so I assume the transfer wasn’t interrupted but the scale stays at 1 and the x,y,z are all 0. I had to go back to the previous saved version and get all the scale values.
Regards the numerical value issue I always click in the tabs and enter values by the keyboard. I quite often have to make a couple attempts ar entering values because part ways through entering a number the subtool changes to other one. I have had the issues with all the 3.5 releases on my machine and with 3.1 at one of the companies I have worked for. I was wondering the the numeric keypad keys are also hotkeys for something else.
