Please help me!! uv layout issue

hey guys, my problem is: I created my models(3) in maya, and imported them to zbrush 3.1, and the other model was created with zspheres and retopologized. I sculpted everything and polypainted. The issue is that I didn’t do the uv layout either in maya or headus!! so now I don’t know what’s the workflow or how to create uv’s without losing all the sculpted detail and texture.? I tried making uv’s in zbrush but is not working when exported back to maya!! what would you do to fix this?? any advise will be very helpful thank you guys.

ps: I aready have zbrush 3.5 r3 in case there is something new to fix this. thanks!!

Hi,

you can do two things.

1: Save a morph target of your lowest res and export it into maya and create your Uv map. after that you can import this one over your low res in Zbrush.

2: You can also create your uv in Zbrush with PUV tile or whatever you wish. check tool pallete uv map. you must do it with your lowest res of the model. set your texture resolution to 2048X2048 or something and push the button. this is the fastest way to do it

hope this helps.

thanks a million, i’m gonna try with the morph target. thanks again

hi Carliman.

on the website of zb artist Jason Welsh http://www.houseoftutorials.net/login/index.php you can find some good vids on this topic. I don’t know if there is already something about exporting and importing maya *.ma files in and from 3.5r3

btw did you check this before posting? http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/TOC the answer is in there

Also there are some nice pdf tutorials and a “what’s new” in the instalation folder of zb3.5 r3

cheers

Marcel
