**** Pixologic Release: UV Master (WIN & MAC)

So I had to try a few tests with this new plugin. I tested a raptor I box modeled in Cinema 4D and now doing some sculpting on in Zbrush. Originally I uv’ed him in Bodypaint and got an ok uv map but it was a huge pain and very time consuming. It was my first time attempting to uv a model but still it wasn’t fun.

Onto the new Zbrush Plugin.

I got a decent map under 5 minutes! After playing around a bit more I got a better map seam wise and it exported into Cinema 4D just fine!

Here are some grabs.

Thank you Zbrush!

Is everyone in agreement that Layers for Textures is the number one requested feature? Sure seems like it. And for good reason.

Great feature! Thanks to the Pixologic development team!:+1:

Export your UV’d mesh from Z Brush as an OBJ

Import that obj into your animation program.

From there you can grab a UV snapshot to bring into Photoshop and use as a map for texturing.

There is a tutorial in the z classroom for UV master
http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/

Looks good Josh, but is it just the angle or is there a lot of stretching in the nose area. Just curious?

More important to me (or should I say just as important!!) would be the ability to import Subtools without having to make the imported mesh a tool first and then append it. Its a real pain in the arse.

3DCoat allows you to import other meshes into different layers but you don’t have to save as a tool and append etc.

Can You mirror UVS or move shells around?

OH MY F****** GOD!
pixologic, i love u guys!
wanna blow? -
AHhahAHAHhA
love love love it!

@Paintguy, have you tried the Multiappend button in subtool master?

Thank you!

Pixologic team use to get us nervous when a new version spends more time than expected to be ready… but other times gives to us surprises like this that makes posible (again) the reinventation of the usage of that wonderful tool.

Until now we used to edit UV maps in another package an then went back to Zbrush to continue the work. Now we´ll come to Zbrush to edit the UV maps of models done in other packages (an Zbrush´s too, of course)

And it´s sooooo easy to use… i feel in love again XD <img src=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/pixo/atn.gif”>

@Paintguy Yes, you are correct their is a lot of stretching in the nose area. I’m not sure why.

hi guys,
i’ve already downloaded the UV master Plugin, but i can’t seem to make it work, it gives me the problem in the image bellow
any idea to help me??

great things anyway!!!

Absolutely impressive. I can’t find the words.

Just THANK YOU SO MUCH, Pixologic. Let’s try it!!!

Thank you very much Pixologic ! Such a cool and efficient plugin. The results are very good and are perfectly valid for many, if not most, applications. I hope one of you kisses the guy who thought of attracting seams to the ambient occlusion

So I guess we can call this LUV mapping as opposed to AUV or GUV mapping ? Excellent ! Because that would make it the LUV Master plugin, which is appropriate as it is making sweet sweet luuuv to me right now

I did have a couple of hiccups though which I will post in the Questions & Troubleshooting forum.

Womball > While in the plugin’s Flatten mode you can use Tool > Deformations or standard modeling/transposing with or without masking or visibility. When done simply Unflatten and copy/paste the UVs, or export as .obj.

I am using a modified Move brush with -100 focal shift and Brush > Auto Masking > Mask by PolyGroups at 100 to move UV islands around. Setting Preferences > Draw > Max Brush Size to 512 and a brush size of 512 makes it easier to move UV islands around without having to zoom out. Just remember to snap the Flattened model view to an axis or disable Z axis editing (Transform > Modifiers) before moving UV islands around.

¿Where can I buy a I (heart) pixologic t-shirt??? this plugin is just great

      • MY TESTS - -

Efficient, really efficient. I tested it in a large pipe system, for a model and I couldn’t believe my eyes… IT UNWRAPPED IT PERFECTLY.

That took me almost half an hour in maya

Holy crap… you guys are so friggen awesome…

The uvunwrap and seam painting tools are amazing, but my favourite, by far, is the copy and paste uv function. Such a beautiful feature. It’s exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much.
