Pixologic Release: SubTool Master (updated 3/28/08)

I have a n00b question…

So I have a model composed of a few different subtools, do I have to save out each subtool seperately and then load them all in one at a time? Will they resume the same position on the model as they did before I saved them out when I import them back in?

Am I making any sense?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Luminous,

The subtools are all saved together in one file. For more information on subtools in general see here:
http://www.zbrush.info/docs/index.php/Subtools

Thank marcus!

I can’t seem to extract anything to anywhere but the desktop in WinRar, so I just moved the created folder to the Zplug folder, but this did not work. Will installation this way not work?

Twitchmonkey,

It sounds as though the extracting process has created an extra folder, enclosing the plugin file and folder. If this is the case, transfer the SubToolMaster.zsc file and the SubToolMasterData folder to your ZStartup\ZPlugs folder.

You were right, thanks.

great !!! amazing update ! i test it…its very useful…thank you !!!

Awsome, i was wondering how you could duplicate subtools today but i found out you couldnt, and with this you can !

Awesome tool … xcellent , thanks !!!

Thank you very much Marcus, works (as usual) like a charm. The buttons got a VIP place on my custom interface:+1:

marvellous
thanks

Hi folks,

SubTool Master has been updated. Download the update from the first post download link.

This update includes:

  • Hotkey assignment
  • Click the version number panel at the bottom of the popup interface to switch on hotkey assignment. Temporary buttons will be created in the ZPlugin:SubTool Master submenu. Ctrl+click on a button to assign a hotkey. Note that the buttons are only for hotkey assignment and clicking them without holding Ctrl will make them disappear. Click the version number panel when done to clear the buttons.

  • Special hotkey ‘N’ - Picks the subtool under the cursor and shows its name, with the option to select it or return to the previously selected subtool.

  • Export
  • Both OBJ and DXF exported, the settings for the selected subtool are used for all subtools. Options including clear masking and show hidden polys.

  • Fill
  • Toggle polypaint on or off for selected subtools by clicking the Fill Options image.

I hope you find this update useful.

Awthum dood. We are using this today.
Great work.

Thank you Marcus. I’ll try it now…

Downloading now… thanks! I LOVE this plugin

Hi again marcus, after using the new version, I have to say an even bigger thank you! The model I’m working on at present has 50 sub tools, and using your “pick subtool hot key” is really great! I keep the subtool pallete open while I work and I may need to select a subtool that is right at the bottom of the list. So now all I have to do is press a hot key while my cursor is over a subtool and it’s selected. After doing this the subtool pallete jumps right to that tool and all I have to do to invert invisibility is to click on that subtools “eye” and everything instantly disapears except for the subtool selected. Sweet! I hit F to zoom to screen, continue modelling, then another short cut “show all” I use alt+a for this, and everythings back in view. Great stuff marcus.

Ryan K. told me to hold control shift and tap the subtool on the model to do what you’re doing. Its the shortcut, just control shift and tap it, and its selected in the subtool (and seen on the subtool palette).

Yes, the update hotkey ‘N’ just adds to that by giving the subtool name and the option to select or not.

Thanks Marcus, that polypaint toggle is a godsend, i was just about to attempt to script that myself(haha).

bLawless: Thankyou, I didn’t know you could do it that way.
I also agree with spaceboy412:polypaint toggle is a godsend.
