I love you guys. your always thinking about the Artist. amazing stuff.
Great plugin!
Thanks Pixologic Team!
Hello, I have installed the plugin PaintStop on a mac in ZStartup/Zplugs but after launch of Zbrush there is no paintstop submenue in the document palette!
PaintStop… it’s like making a “PitStop.” Get it?
Either way it’s pretty dang awesome. Thanks Pixologic.
personally i’m too stuck in my ways to use anything other than photoshop or painter for traditional painting. Though i’m sure there are plenty of people who are loving this right now.
I also hope this isn’t the ‘unannounced’ feature that is supposed to be in 3.5
A small 15 minutes rush with watercolor used
Nice program/plug in, would be nice if I stopped using it for a minute so I can get some work done.
Seriously like the program and the interface. Would like my tablet to be able to use the eraser function. I do make lots of mistakes and would like to remove them without using the ctrl Z to undo it. Zoom would be nice to have as a short cut for the tablet.
Otherwise I am very pleased with the program, I hope the next version 3.5 enables me to do more with this great program.
This looks to be an incredible addition!! thanks to all the Pix guys
although the wacom eraser is not supported, you can bind keys to the different brushes…so in the end its even faster than flipping your wacom around back and forth.
YIIIIIIIIPPPPIIIIIEEEE!!! Finally 2D Upgrade, Thank You So much for this update. This Plug-in so useful for illustrator, I think this plug-in will be enhance in 3.5 and 4 upgrade. I think this plug like painter and spotlight is like photoshop . (ALL TOOLS IN ONE SOFTWARE)
Can not wait the zbrush 4 to be released and i think the release will be amazing.
I hope in the zb 3.5 and 4 will have:
- Layer Blending
- Lazymouse for painting
- Canvas Rotation
But for now this plug-in is awesome, thank you pixologic. Can not wait zbrush 3.5 / 4.
Zbrush in the best software that i ever used, blending between 2D and 3D is awesome.
Thanks (sorry for my english)
Ive let my inner child test this and as u can see its pretty happy
Some kind of layer blending would be great. Was rather shocking to see
that its only visibility .

Also, BTW, not to be a nit-picker but, “marker” is misspelled on the product page as “maker.”
Using this plugin is almost orgasmic.
YES! Yes yes.
Another amazing plugin by Marcus, and a truly useful addition to what was already the most comprehensive toolset on the market! For those who bought ZBrush 2 a couple years ago, how well have you done! 2 complete releases, several point releases, plugins that do incredible things and add huge functionality, free models, free training - comprehensive training on video no less! - hundreds of free materials, free alphas and free textures, a complete community of incredible people willing to help anyone, a dirty great Wiki with more information than you’ll ever digest, and now a drawing, painting & sketching tool which compares with Art Rage, Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, and Painter Sketchbook, which are all paid apps!
And this is the point to remember, I had great fun beta testing this, and we asked for layers, lazy mouse, and all the other things mentioned here, plus a heap more. If it could be done Marcus did it, but like you we kept forgetting that this is a plugin, and there are things the scripting language simply won’t do. Most of these are minor inconveniences though, and once you’ve used it a while, you’ll find there’s a way to do pretty much anything your mind can imagine. I found my trad art background hindering me at times because it just wouldn’t occur to me to use the watercolour brushes over oil paints coz you just can’t DO that in the real world, but in Paintstop (Yeah, we tried other names, but they were all taken!) anything is possible.
Can’t wait to see what everyone produces with this clever plugin, and if you use Z a lot I think you’ll be surprised how often you use it, and the number of things you’ll use it for.
Thanks Pixo, and Marcus the Great, I’m still a little disappointed you couldn’t work more on my idea of having Paintstop make me a cup of coffee and get me a donut, but it’s still pretty good!!
thanks for tips very nice tool i want see more
love the digital paintings and sketches that are coming in,
especially, jester’s and garycrump’s
Keep them coming!!
Thanks for a great Plugin, It loads fast, and has robust tool set that’s is easy to use.
I was just wondering, I think a few people asked if this will be able to paint on 3D models directly.
If it can’t be made to paint directly to 3D as a plugin, is it possible for there be a ZAppLink for paintstop? Or something that works in the same manor?
just wondering

p.s.
anyone else notice if you hit R you can rotate your last stroke as a 3D object.

Very deep thank you to Marcus…
Thanks Marcus and Pixologic: Nice job
Of course this is just utilizing the existing features of ZBrush, so it doesn’t have layer blending modes and unlimited layers, layer masking, brush rotation tracking, etc. since all that would require adding capability to the core of ZBrush as opposed to scripting with what is already in it. But it is nicely done, and I appreciate it.
However, knowing what is possible, I do have a couple of requests:
- Brush config/saving:
-
My favorite blender in ZBrush is the smudge brush with spray turned on: it is like hundreds or thousands of small, light or medium smudge-dabs all in one quick stroke. It would be great if I could make a brush like this (or any of a hundred other possibilities) and save it. It could be as simple as an extra category that has ten configurable buttons on it, so you could have a set of 10 custom brushes living on it at a time. The ability to use a custom alpha and spray mode to create custom brushes opens up lots of possibilities.
-
Incorporate a color palette picker/saver. Having a nice little row of colors beats having to find some spot on the canvas to build this ‘manual palette’ for quick color picking.
-
Since both the above functions have already been acomplished in the past with dedicated scripting by users, I know it is easily doable.
Thanks again!!!
Is is compatible with Wacom Tablets, like Painter and Photoshop, and can you build it in separate layers and bring it into Photoshop still layered?
