VERY good idea!
This is it, folks! Community judging is now over and we have our winners list. As promised, it will be posted on Monday. The contest was actually very close! Only 3 votes separate the Grand Prize winner from First place, and only 1 vote separates Second Place from Third Place.
Everyone who participated in this contest should feel very proud. You’ve helped shape a part of ZBC history. And from what we’ve heard, a lot of you have found the contest to be inspiring as well as a great learning experience. Thank you to everyone who joined in, or who cheered on the participants!
Speaking of which, we’ve now opened the forum up again and unlocked all the threads. Feel free to cheer on your favorites, or revisit old friends.
See you on Monday!
Hi Aurick,
This was a great competition - a great way to build the Zbrush community, to share our work with each other, and to build our own skills. I know you recently posted on -FoOD-'s (Gra 'Nox) thread regarding the ranking system used to evaluate each entry, and provided him with his position in the ranking. Understanding the ranking system used by the judges was helpful, giving me as a contributor an idea of the process used to evaluate submitted work. Now that the competition is closed, I think it would be really useful for all of those who worked so hard on their entry to be able to receive their ranking in the contest as a way of understanding, evaluating, and improving their own work. Thanks for all your hard work on the contest.
Again…sigh…another elitist and clique riddled voting exercise.
It really would have been better to let us ALL vote on every entry. I saw some amazing stuff coming through that hasnt made it onto the “higher than thou” judges list.
Shame really.
I think the judges made decent decisions of the top 10.
There were plenty of judges, so that is a solid attempt to rule out bias.
If only the community voted. (Not to mention they are professionals in the industry who have an intimate knowledge of ZBrush.) There would have been a “clique” too. I have juried exhibits before and let me tell you it is no easy task. Especially whittling 50 entries to 10!
There is no way to make something like this 100% objective anyway.
Also, putting something together like this is also a tremendous amount of work on the part of the judges and the ZBC team. I don’t think its necessary to agree with the judges decisions, but at the same time, all of this criticism of the comp is unfounded. Kudos to the top 10 and all of those that finished. This contest made us better ZBrushers and artists. (I think that was the point!)
I´m so excited because of the winners list although I´m not involved! LOL ^^
But I can´t be online for the next few hours… family meeting…
so I´ll see the winners list very very late. Oh no!!!
So for the last time: Good luck to all!
[email protected] I cannot see absolutely ANYTHING elitist about this. It is a competition - there will be winners and there will be losers.
Everyone could enter and work hard on their entry. There were only 10 spots for the finalists available so OBVIOUSLY not every great entry could be on the list if there’s more than 10 of them. The final vote was up to the community which is more than fair IMHO. That’s the way all the CG competitions are judged across the boards [look at the recent CG talk challenge]
I’m looking forward to seeing who’ll win and kudos to all who have taken part in the contest, appreciating the community spirit and the learning experience that such competitions bring in the first place.
Were the deleted threads restored also or are those lost to us? Just curious. Congrats to the winners and it was fun while it lasted!
