Pixologic is rushing with Zbrush

As much as I love Zbrush, I have some major critique for Pixologic.

Why are you guys almost always rushing with new Zbrush features? When Z3 came out almost all of the new stuff was unfinished. HD geometry could not be exported as a displacement map, no manual weighting with Zsphere rigging, only three brushes for polypainting (standard, layer and smooth), retopology tools were full of bugs. There was a lot more but I cant remeber right now.

I hope this doesn’t happen with Z4…

Yes but only things you can do are standard painting, smoothing and layer painting. That’s just not enough. What if you want to brighten or darken part of your model? You need to rely on projection master.

well its a free update so you should see it rather as an update as as a new version.
Till now you dont know if they just add or also improve.
I can still see some retopo and polypaint videos with thumping house
music come.
They simply have to. They know topogun and know its technic is far superior.

I think we should wait for Z4 before passing judgement…however I do agree with your sentiments. This is the nature of software development though, new features sell more than improving existing features, make better headlines.

Lets hope Z4 does improve existing features, of which there are many that need a little tweak or two :slight_smile:
