Pixologic, Can we get an official 1.5 download date?

There I’ve gone and asked the question everyone’s been very patiently avoiding. I’m sick of checking this site every hour on the hour because I want, want, want. And then there’s all these wonderful beta images and then people talk about the premier edition. It’s all too much, I’m going to go lie down for another hour…and then I’ll check again.
When do we get a chance to play?

I don’t think there’s an official download date at this point. Zbrush is still undergoing testing and pixologic is receiving feedback from the testers. I don’t think it’ll be too much longer, but they won’t be releasing it until sometime after Siggraph.

Version 1.5 will be released to all existing users soon after Siggraph. We do not yet have an exact date, however. The final release date depends on how quickly the developers can be certain that it is ready for release.

So are these “beta pictures”, made with a beta, a premier edition, 1.5, 1.39, 1.27…I’m completely confused.

1.5 is not finished. BUT…

testers have different versions of varying numbered versions containing some but not all of what is supposed to be 1.5?

Maybe instead of using the term beta…which I find confusing anyway, considering a soft is usually only a beta once in it’s life…testers could use the version number.

Cause if they aren’t testing a full 1.5, then I’m wrong in my thoughts about who has it and who doesn’t.

Good Communication. That’s the key for me.

Pixologic’s support is excellent.

And think about this, too: they offered ZBrush .9 back when it was alpha as a SIGGRAPH special, and they’ve offered all of the upgrades since then free of charge.

Most software companies would have passed off what PixoLogic delivered as 1.2x as a 2.x release and a paid upgrade…

… but isn’t the anticipation delicious? It takes me back to feelings of half a century ago when I was a kid living through the last few days before Christmas…

But seriously, I find it makes a refreshing change, in an age when major software companies roll out the latest versions of the lead products with seemingly as many bugs as features, that Pixologic and the team are taking the time to ensure that the product actually works on delivery. I’d much rather wait another few weeks (or even moths, come to that) than have a buggy release with a series of patches and bug fixes (sorry, Service Releases, I believe they’re called).

So keep up the good work, guys; quality is all. :+1:
