Pipeline Question (Maya to Zbrush)

Hello,

I am looking for some input/opinion.

Modeling a horse and rider in maya then bringing into Zbrush for detail/mapping.

My questions is how much to lay out in maya before bringing into Z. Specifically things like the bridle, reins, saddle. Also, what about the rider? block it in with the horse and bring it all in at once or do the rider separately in Z brush and just bring them back into maya separately?

There are no hard and fast answers to this. It really depends on your personal skill with both apps. Basically, use each app for the parts that are easiest for you.

i would agree with aurick. It really is a situational thing. Do what your comfortable with. Takes awhile to develop a workflow that works, but then it takes even longer to find one that works for you, lol.

My strength is modeling in Maya, but I am trying to show diversity with being able to integrate Maya and Zbrush together.
Its tough figuring out. I know I could build the model in Maya and have it look good, but i also know that being able to sculpt detail and folds in Z could really put the model where i want it to be.
