Hi. Awesome work absolutely love it. How did you hook up the displacement map and bump map in the sss same shader? Did you use the approximation editor at all?

I’ve seen this quite a few weeks back, can’t believe it only hit the front pages this time, and never did at cgtalk. This is truly amazing and inspiring work. I made the monkey king character in 3d as well of the same mythology, but mine doesn’t even compare to the quality of this. Is there any final gathering or dome light setup going on here, what did you use the hdr for?

You mentioned you used mudbox for sculpting this character as well, I am wondering what in particular did you use mudbox for that couldn’t be better if you did it in zbrush? The eyes look really great and lifelike as well, I have trouble creating a nice texture and render inside maya for eyes, any particular shader you used for the eyes?

@KonginChains:you’re welcome i saw your potorfolio,it’s quite nice,i like them,interesting:)i use mudbox for the general sclupting,i found mudbox is quite convience,but in mudbox 2009 a bit difficult to zoom in then scuplt,i don’t know why,so i turn to zbrush scrupting the detail,dealing with the detail i think that’s zbrush’s advantadge.
yeah eye is really a problem,i think it’s no short cut,just test rendering again and again,and you also can seperate the eye to a new layer,then adjust it in fusion.

thanks for the response, i’m glad you liked my work as well. I’m just wondering what the hdr was for, was it for the reflections only or for lighting the whole scene, did you use any FG at all, care to share your light setup?

Love the skin and metal shader, they’re exceptional. Personally I think the fabric texture is the weak point.

Can you share how you give all the detail on the left arm brace? I love how it looks and how you put on all the details. Do you have any 3d model picture before zbrush?
What kind of brush did you use to create the brace?
