Photoshop to Zbrush 4 normal render/view

Hello,

I created normal maps in Photoshop from a diffuse color map I created in Zbrush 4. I would like to now bring the normal map from Photoshop into zbrush. Is there a way to do this??? I tried to put the normal map I created in the normals drop down in zbrush. It loads but its not noticeable on the model.

Hello,

You can no longer preview normal maps in zbrush; this feature was removed along with zmapper quite a few versions ago.

You can load height/displacement maps instead, or use raw geometry which would probably look considerably better than a normal map.

I actually just used the map as an alpha then inflated which worked pretty good. Is there any tutorials on loading displacement maps or is it pretty straight forward?

Thank you!

It should be relatively straight forward. The only requirement is that the mesh needs to have a diffuse texture map applied as well (even a blank New From Polypaint). Once it has that, just open the Displacement Map tab, load in the height map, and start adjusting the intensity.

Thank you Cyrid. This was exactly what I wanted. I actually used the bump as an alpha then inflated the mesh. Its almost the same. Your way is more accurate tho. Thank you!
