Perspective when image is loaded in backround error

Hi All,

I’m in need of a little help. have searched the forums on this, but dont seem to be getting anywhere. I have created a video of the problems I’m having, if that makes things any easier.

In short, there are three major issues I’m having:

Once an image is loaded as the background, rather than the default gradient…

  1. Can’t adjust the Zdepth of an object once in edit mode
  2. When perspective is turned on (in edit mode) the object flips its normals. This can be sorted with double faces… but this is a work around… not a fix
    .
3)Movement behaves in reverse (move mouse right… object moves left).

Problem 1 is simply not relevant when an image is not used in the background (we can see all the way to infinity)

Problems 2&3 seem to be related to perspective being active.

Please help.

@ Zenisu - Just import your image into the texture palette, select your material/color with mrgb, and hit ‘crop and fill’. You will no longer have this issue, it is specific to importing through the document menu.

If you want to use a background image as reference for modelling then use the Image Plane plugin available from the Download Center. So long as you have a model in Edit mode before loading a background image then all will be OK with Perspective.

EDIT: and note that you can switch off Edit and adjust a model using the Gyro without losing the ability to get back to Edit:

  1. Turn off Edit mode
  2. Turn on Move, Scale or Rotate for the Gyro
  3. Adjust model as you wish
  4. Switch on Edit mode

The important thing is not to draw out the model again (Draw mode while Edit off) or switch to a different Tool in the Tool palette.

Thanks Marcus,

I’ve been using Zbrush for years and consider myself very adept… yet this little gem has completely passed me by!

Thanks!
