Perspective issue when importing or appending a certain mesh as a ztool

I’ve never noticed this before. When ever I import or append a certain mesh, it changes the angle of view to the point that there isn’t that much difference between perspective, and orthographic view. I provided some pics to show what I mean. The angle of view slider does relatively nothing after import. This is very frustrating because I am using precise measurements based on what I see on the previous angle of view, before import. It has happened to similar files.

I just tried appending a regular cube, and the same thing happens, only the change is almost insignificant, but there IS a change in the angle of view. On the previous post, the imported or appended ztool I am speaking of are just 4 cubes stacked on top of each other, but of course this makes that object a lot taller than that single cube I used just now. There IS an issue, and I am wondering if this has anything to do with the size of what you import or append on to the canvas.

So nobody has any say on this at all? No opinions even?

I’m sorry. Ive never encountered this issue so I can only speculate. It’s possible your object is too large/too small in the zbrush worldspace. Objects of extreme scale in either direction can sometimes cause odd behavior. I realize you may have measurement considerations, but just by way of a test, run the Tool> Defomation> Unify on the problem tool. This will rescale the object to a more median level. See if that causes perspective to have a greater effect.

Otherwise, I’d just point out that perspective in Zbrush is centered on the middle of the viewport, unless the DRaw >Align to Object option is enabled. The more you move off center, the more the object will distort. Objects that are larger (closer) in the canvas will also have a greater distortion than objects that are zoomed out (far away).

Also in the Draw menu is the angle of view slider that can increase the perspective distortion to desired levels. Try turning dynamic mode (in the persepctive button) off to see if this has any effect.

And finally, I would just caution you that every program is different, and trying to match perspective exactly between programs will always be tricky, if not impossible.

Hello Spyndel

I tried a lot of things after my last post and found that it was indeed the Dynamic Perspective button that should always be turned off, other wise, it would cause changes in the FOV / AOV if I apply something bigger onto the canvas. ( just my case ) What I was doing was applying measurement guides in the form of cubes, but it affected the fov and the face changed to the point that I couldn’t work with the face looking like that with the fear that it would look completely different than what I originally envisioned it would be, even inside zbrush. I’ll just have to do all the work I’ve done all over again, but I’m thinking it’s not such a big deal since I just started learning how to use the zmodeler brush and the circumstance gave me a good opportunity to try changing my work flow. Thank you for replying though, have a good day.

This might have been the result of haveing auto adjust distance on while using perspective.
