Perspective, Focal Angle and Real Life Lenses...

So, it appears the current default for ZBrush is set to 90 degree focal angle. This, according to my reading is pretty extreme (i.e. bordering on a wide angle lens), and I generally lower that to get a more portrait like sense of perspective. My question is, what focal angle is Zbrush showing me in the draw palette? Is it the horizontal angle? The diagonal angle? Vertical? It matters, because if I’m going to be trying to match things up with my other applications, some of which use lens measurements, some of which use field of view (FOV), I need to have some idea about what that number in Zbrush means so I can keep everything on the same page. The link below details a bit more about what I’m talking about, but a quick answer from those in the know would be a help.

It works better in ZB4 than in earlier versions. At least it’s not backwards now  Of course, how do you determine the distance of the object from the virtual camera?
Usually (i think) angle of view refers to the horizontal. No guarantees though.

have you try it setting off the x,y or z axis and with Perspective ON moving the Focal angle slider?

I’m not using the perspective deformation. I’m speaking about the perspective feature of the Draw palette. This doesn’t change your Ztool. It only changes how it’s displayed on the canvas.
