anyone know how to create a True square/cube in 2point and 3 point perspective? i am looking for some tutorials or whatever is out there because so far, all i know is that you just have to wag it.
Your choices right now are:
-
Use the Perspective button in the Draw Palette (Shift click for the special kind.)
-
Various tools in the Deformation sub-palette, such as Taper and Perspective.
-
A 2.5D or 2D technique. Try this one: Forced Perspective Tutorial
thanx…i am silly for not stating this previously -but how do u do it on paper with a pencil and triangle?
Here’s a couple links for you:

Or you could go Curvelinear…that’s always cool looking:

GREAT link Frenchy, thanks!!
There’s also global prespective which gets activated when you hold down the shift key at the same time as activating the “persp” button in the draw menu.
You can move your vanishing point by dragging from the distortion slider onto any point on the canvas.
Thanks for those links! I’ve learned a lot today, I was not aware of three, four, five, or six point perspective before!
Here is a site on making shadows with perspective: Shadows
thanx for your links frenchy and kathy. i specifically wanted to be able to draw a TRUE square/cube in perspective…not something that i just eyeballed. Yes, i am anal enough for it to irritate me because i would appreciate knowing everything there is to know about perspective drawing.
Muvlo, check out these, which expanded my knowledge a tremendously.
http://www.teamgt.com/ft-tutes.htm for drawing a perfect square in 2point plus very good examples of drawing light source and shadows
and
http://www2.evansville.edu/studiochalkboard/draw.html for drawing a perfect square in 1pt plus some extras on creating depth with light/shadow and colour
-actually i am beginning to think these methods are more work then it is worth, but if u want to know the roots of how 3d software does everything for us like zbrush does…then u have to go back before computers…absolutely amazing the masters were!!
if there are more links let me know please!
2nd question…anyone have links to a tutorial on drawing a spiral (on paper-with a compass) using the Golden Rectangle/Mean/Rule (Fibonacci) method? This is used for compositions of both music and painting which, amazingly enough is also found everwhere in nature such as flowers and snail shells or even in the songs of birds!
I learned all of this in college…but i did not appreciate it as much i do now…i want to use it again but forgot!
