Perspective changes when part of mesh hidden

It took me awhile to realize that ZB changes the perspective when I hide part of a mesh. Can I disable this behavior?

The reason I want to do this is I find that ZB can zoom in much closer if only that portion is visible. Also I can quickly re-center the area of interest if the rest of the mesh is hidden. However with this perspective change I find that what I carefully edited to look just right becomes distorted when I re-enable the whole mesh to be visible.

I just tried what you describe and I don`t see any changes (perspective turned off).
Do you have perspective (draw palette) turned on?

actually the perspective changes due to hidden mesh, or hidden subtools has been a project killer for me. i believe its been fixed in the mac version, this is why i’m wanting 3.5 so much. hopefully we’ll see in a few days.

you and me both space hope this perspective issue is fixed soon in the new update and is more closer to real perspective and not distorted…

Just out of curiosity – do you all have perspective turned on?

Yes I have perspective on, mostly because that’s the default. But I also actually want to have perspective, because things look more realistic if it’s done right. I suppose I can just leave it turned off all the time, but I’d rather not be forced to do that. If ZB 3.5 has this problem fixed then that’ll be great.

yes perspective is on, i’m surprised you never encountered this. if you add more subtools and they are various in size you can watch the perspective get less and less no matter what it is set at.

I never encountered this because Im modeling with perspective turned off. Thats why I`ve asked.

lol, okay.
you want to know something even weirder, load a cube and turn it 3/4 while in orthographic mode(persp off), notice how the lines get wider in the back instead of remaining parallel. this alone forces me to work in perspective half the time.
